Eastern Europeans in West Cumbria

Eastern Europeans have a longer history in Cumbria than you might think.

This little snippet, sent in by a supporter, is from The Beacon Museum in Whitehaven:

The site of  Gabrosentum, the Roman fort at Moresby near Whitehaven, is in the area now occupired by St Bridget’s Church, Parton. This work was occupied by troops from the Dijon area of France, and later from Thrace (area now known as Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Turkey)
