Slow news day

We’ve mentioned before about media bias and the BNP. On reflection perhaps a better term would have been ‘media obsession’.

Last week, it was announced that two BNP members, Tony Carvell and Brian Allan, had been co-opted onto a parish council in Wetheral, a small village near Carlisle. Niether of them live in Wetheral but this is simply part of the BNP’s strategy to get into local government without facing elections. The two are also standing for election to Carlisle City Council, obviously they must have a lot of time on their hands.

You would be forgiven for not thinking this is big news but today on Look North, almost a week after it happened, one of the top stories is that the BNP have got two seats on a parish council!

This is the sort of publicity, just before an election, that other minor parties would kill for. What are they playing at?

It must be another slow news day at Look North.
